notes from mentees, students, and teaching evaluations:

“Professor Kent de Grey was great! I was shocked to learn that he was only a grad student; he’s better than many tenured professors I’ve had.”

“Professor de Grey was excellent in providing feedback and helped to facilitate a learning environment and allowed time to help you if you fell behind without feeling like you were getting the it’s your fault mentality. Great teacher and I would recommend him to anyone.”

“I appreciated that my professor was open to feedback from all students….I respected my professor and felt he was extremely knowledgeable, effective, and absolutely fair.”

“The course was well organized. I always knew what was expected of me and when things were do. I very much liked that as a class we were able to decide whether we wanted to have tests or to do a SCIF project. I like feeling like I have a say in my education. Plus, the SCIF projects added a real-life application to what we were learning. I also greatly enjoyed the open discussion.”

“Discussion based class was great for involvement and learning.”

“Good group work Class time well spent”

“The teacher focused on group discussion rather than having lectures all the time which was really nice. When I was behind on my assignments, Robert reached out to me and gave me the encouragement I needed to get caught up.”

“Being a super senior I have had many professors and grad student instructors. He was by far one of the best teahcers I have had here at the University and I wish I wasn’t graduating this semester so I could take more courses from him. I learned more in this single class then I have in a handful of other classes combined. His classroom was inviting and fun yet professional. He was accommodating and worked well with everyone. It was truly a joy to be part of his class this semester.”

“Great discussions in class and by far one of my favorite teachers thus far.”

“The course material was extremely interesting, and the professor injected current events into the course material which made the class current and relevant. The open discussion in the class allowed you to experience different points of view that differed from the professor.”

“It has changed the way I consume information”

“Instructor was totally open to student input. Instructor strongly encouraged student participation.”

“Robert Kent de Grey was amazing! There were multiple times I had to email him with questions and he was very responsive. Bonus – he didn’t just email with a short easy answer. He emailed with guided material and other explanations to help me get to the answer I was looking for on my own. I really appreciated that! Oh! And he’s hilarious!”

“Very knowledgeable, fun, funny, and a great teacher.”

“Such a great course! Every student at the University should be required to take this course. I’ve learned the basics on being a better person, things that we should all know, but are never taught or talked about anywhere”

“Best teacher I’ve ever had.”

“Robert was great! He was very organized and stated his expectations from the beginning. He was easy to get ahold of for any questions and responded very quickly. I also liked the feedback that I received from him and my fellow classmates.”

“Rob was such a great professor. He cares so much about the subject and his students. I left class every day feeling really inspired, I would recommend Rob to everyone.”

“He made a safe comfortable environment where I wasn’t scared to express my thoughts or share examples. I really respect him. He was honest, open, and always up for a one on one discussion to help you understand.”

“I don’t love to write papers, especially in online courses but I think that this was set up exceptionally well.”

“His ability to create a classroom environment of unity and open communication of ideas was very pivotal in my engagement in the subject, especially as one not majoring in psychology”

“He was encouraging and attentive to the needs of his students. He was very passionate and knowledgeable about the materials covered (and some of those examples were quite obscure.) He made sure that all demographics were treated with respect through leading by example.”

“I hate to admit it I enjoyed the class, it’s been one of the only classes I looked forward to going. The energy level of the professor added to his passion for the topic. It was very clear from day one the professor was passionate about the course. You could tell he put a lot of thought into each topic and wanted us to learn, not just regurgitate the information. I would highly recommend this class to anyone interested in psychology. Moreover, in the era of fake-news I think this class should be mandatory for all students.”

“I could tell that the instructor was excited to talk about some of the topics in class and that made listening to him more fun. Plus, his examples and group projects were very entertaining.”

“Professor Kent effectively used Canvas tools, which very few professors understand how to use.”

“Professor de Grey provided a respectful and comfortable learning environment that promoted class discussions. He was genuinely interested in what each student had to say about a topic. The assignments he chose were effective and they gave me the opportunity to implement what we were learning in class into my daily routine. I would highly recommend this course.”

“FAVORITE TEACHER BY FAR! He cares greatly about what he teaches and keeps the class’s attention. He’s lovable and relatable, but he also knows what he’s talking about. I would take this class every semester if I could!”
